Three drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora,Budgam:Police

Srinagar, May 17 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and have seized contraband substance from their possession at Tral and Budgam areas.

A police spokesman in a statement issued to KNS said Continuing its drive against drug dealings, Police arrested 03 drug peddlers and recovered banned drugs from their possession.
 
Officers from Police Station Tral arrested a drug peddler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Yatoo of Sherabad. During checking officers were able to recover 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession. He has been shifted to Police Station Tral where he remains in custody. The arrested drug peddler is involved in selling of narcotic drugs in the areas of Awantipora.
 
Case FIR No 42/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tral and investigation has been taken up.
 
In Budgam, officers at a checkpoint established at Exchange crossing Charar-e-Sharief intercepted one vehicle Bolero Load Carrier bearing registration number JKO4E-0822 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Dar resident of Alamdar Colony Charar-e-Sharief and Noor Mohammad Bhat resident of Trajabal, Charar-e-Sharief. During checking officers were able to recover 450 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
 
Accordingly, case FIR No 52/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Chrar-e-Sharief and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
 
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers, it said. (KNS)
