Srinagar, April 17(KNS): Calling the Sumbal incident unfortunate, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that those who defy restrictions are enemies of the society.
“The area where people pelted stones on police and administration in Sumbal is a Red Zone and people should have stayed indoors and adhered to medical protocol. We are enforcing it for the public good. Public should support it,” he told KNS.
“Those who violate restrictions are harming themselves, their families and society. We won’t spare these enemies of society. We lodged FIR against violators in the Sumbal incident and arrested them,” he added.
Revealing that 13 FIRs have been registered against uploading and spreading fake content on social networking sites, IGP Kashmir said that they have written to social networking sites authorities to assist in tracing the miscreants.
“Our Cyber police station is working on it. We have already arrested some of the miscreants who wanted to create panic and will take action against all such miscreants,” he told KNS.
He reiterated that in case of emergency, people can contact control rooms- all assistance including vehicles will be provided in case of a medical emergency.
Regarding the reports of agriculture activities not been allowed by security agencies, he said, “There is no restriction on carrying out agriculture activities except in
IGP Kashmir also said that the identity of militants who were killed today in Shopian have yet to be confirmed.
On being asked about the reports that anti-militancy operations have been intensified in Kashmir, IGP Kashmir said, “Conducting anti-militancy operations is a routine process. However after recent civilian killings by militants, we intensified the operations against them”
