Srinagar, June 18 (KNS): Two days after forty-two Corporators of SMC participated in No-Confidence motion and removed Junaid Matoo from the post of Mayor, former Dy Mayor Sheikh Imran on Thursday alleged that those taken initiative to fight against corruption are being targeted under a well-thought out design and urged authorities to provide full security cover to them.
Talking to media personnel, Sheikh Imran alleged that after forty-two Corporators voted against the corruption and removed the erstwhile Mayor, the same Corporators are being targeted by those who have taken the defeat personal.
“It is highly unfortunate that some people have taken the defeat personal and it is why they have started playing a malicious game with those who voted against them”, Sheikh Imran said.
He said our several Corporators are being harassed and targeted soon after they took part in No-Confidence motion. “A grenade was tossed at the residence of one of our Corporators but due to timely efforts it was defused by police. Similarly another Corporators car which was parked outside her residence in Srinagar city was damaged badly. Even I was also chased by some unknown person during morning hours who tried to eliminate me”, former Dy Mayor alleged.
He said those taken initiative to combat against corruption are being targeted and appealed authorities to provide full security cover to Corporators whose lives are currently in risk.
He said we are highly thankful to civil and police administration who provided full support to ensure corruption-free atmosphere in SMC.
Sheikh Imran added if we are well and alive, it means SMC is well and alive and avowed that with joint efforts Corporators will left no stone unturned to develop Srinagar city and continue work for the betterment of people. (KNS)
