Urged the administration to provide compensation to victim family

Srinagar, June 13:(KNS)    CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has condoled the demise of Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh of Hanand, Chawalgam a daily wage employee of Power Development Department (PDD), who got electrocuted on Saturday afternoon while repairing transmission line in Chawalgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam and succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Srinagar on Sunday.

 

The CPI(M) leader said that the deceased Sartaj was the lone bread earner of his family. As such, the administration must provide compensation to the family of the victim. He demanded an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the facts, how the deceased got electrocuted while repairing the line when the power supply had cut off.

 

Scores of PDD daily wagers, casual labourers working as linemen have already lost their lives in the line of their duty in the recent past in Kashmir.

 

He urged the administration to release pending wages of all daily wagers, casual labourers working in PDD and their genuine demand for regularization must be speeded up.(KNS)
