Officials blame inter deptt sections for failure



Chadoora, Oct 07 (KNS): Several villages in Chadoora tehsil of Budgam district are facing acute shortage of water supply while people are forced to fetch water from contaminated sources-fearing outbreak of water borne diseases.
Hundreds of households in Dooniwari and Bugam villages of the thesil are without portable water from several weeks having population of around 7000 souls.
While officials of Lal Nagar division blame inter departmental sections for its failure to restore water supply in the area, residents complain.
A resident of Dooniwari, Bilal ahmed says, People are suffering due to the lackadaisical attitude and inter sectional rift in the department. 'However, most of the villages in Chadoora Tehsil do not get proper water supply and the courtesy goes to the inefficient officers of the division' he maintained.
Another resident Qayoom Dar has said that People have been complaining of water scarcity from almost three weeks now, but nothing has happened so far. 'We contacted concerned officials but they did not respond to our repeated requests, he added.
'It is embarrassing to see our mothers fetching water from mobile tankers-- delivering 20 liters to each family isn't sufficient to quench the thirst,' says Hamid, resident of Bugam.(KNS)
