Syed Ghulam Rasool Gayoor titled as 'Sout-i-kashmir' on his 15th death anniversary

Srinagar, Oct 25 (KNS): Syed Ghulam Rasool Gayoor, renowned scholar & educationist, noted journalist, writer & poet, a philanthropist, thinker, Political leader & a social reformer was titled as "Sout-i-kashmir" during a literary function at Town hall Pulwama in his 15th death anniversary.

According to statement issued to KNS, the function was organised by Gayoor foundation in collaboration with J&K academy of art, culture & literature, District administration Pulwama & Sajid foundation on 22nd of October 2020.
On the occasion, Prof (Dr) Shaad Ramzan was the chief guest, Ghulam Hassan Talib as guest of honour, while as Prof (Dr) Muhammad Aslam presided over the function. Rich tributes were paid to Ghulam Rasool Gayoor & it is worthwhile to mention that a title name "Sout-i-kashmir" (voice of Kashmir) was also given to Gayoor posthumously. The title was given by a renowned writer, poet & John peet awardee Prof Rehman Rahi. It was said that Ghulam Rasool Gayoor was a real voice of Kashmir & he deserved this title. Among those who paid rich tributes to Gayoor are Prof ( Dr) Ghulam Nabi Haleem, Syed G M Andrabi Kreeri, Kaleem Bashir, Shakeel Azad, Syed Fayaz Andrabi, Nazir Ahmad Ganaie & others as well. First award by Gayoor Foundation was given to a renowmed & senior most journalist Syed Muhammad Shafi Simnani. Gayoor special number Shaharbeen, a famous News paper published from Pulwama & famous Pragash magzine special Gayoor number published from Bombay were released on the occasion. Great educationist, writers, lawyers, doctors & other intellectual from different fraternities like Rashid Raashid, Ghulam Rasool Mashkoor, Fayaz Dilgeer, Dr Mir Khurshaid Ahmad, Dr Sahil Abas, Dr Raouf Adil, Dr Shahnawaz Andrabi, Dr Shiekh Arshid, Er Wali Muhammad Dar, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Syed Showkat Andrabi, Ghulam Hussain Hussaini, Ghulam Hassan Kuchay, Dr Mir Bilal Ahmad, Mir Muhammad Akram, Jalal-ud-Din Dilnawaz, Mudasir Ahmad Dar, Haji Abdul Ahad Thokar, Dr Ashfaq, Ghulam Muhammad Baber, Showkat Ahmad Dar, Jehangeer Ahmad Ganaie & others prominent personalities were present on the occasion. The function was started by Tilawat-i-wholly Quran recited by Ab Majeed Malik which was followed by Naat-i-Rasool (SAW) of Late G R Gayoor recited by Basharat Nazir. President Gayoor foundation Showkat Gayoor gave a key note speech & well comed the guests warmly, while as general secretary Gayoor Foundation Kaleem Bashir paid vote of thanks. Senior vice president of Gayoor foundation Syed Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Andrabi Kreeri recited the citation of Syed Mohammad Shafi Simnani, while as Mir Nazir, a famous journalist & correspondent All India radio News continued the proceedings of function.(KNS)
