Stop Discrimination against Kashmiri Sikhs: Sardar Baldev Singh,

Srinagar October 14:(KNS) All sikh Gurudwara Management Committee chairman Sardar Baldev Singh chaired a meeting of all district Gurudwara Prabhandak Committees in which all the Presidents and Elites of Sikh Society unanimously discussed the discrimination towards Kashmiri Sikhs. Mr Singh said that inspite of giving many sacrifices for Kashmir we Sikhs are neglected time and again, this is first time in the history of 70 years as that no sikh has been taken as member of Public service Commission, he further stressed that Punjabi language which was the official language of J&K as guaranteed under Article 146, schedule VI of J&K constitution has been removed in spite of the assurance as on record by Ex Dy Chief Minister (Sh Kawinder Gupta BJP) and other leaders that it will be included in bill in cabinet. It was also pointed out that the Govt has been playing delaying tactics in issuing the clear cut orders regarding the coverage of Sikhs under pahari speaking category and Sikhs have denied the certificates on one pretext or other. Sardar Baldev Singh Chairman ASGMC-Kashmir and all presidents comprising S. Santpal Singh (President DGPC Budgam), Dr Tara Singh (President DGPC Baramulla), S. Buda Singh (President DGPC Srinagar), Dr Ravi Singh (President DGPC Pulwama), S. Inderjit Singh (President DGPC Anantnag), S. Bupinder Singh (President DGPC Kupwara) and all elected members expressed their resentment that sikhs living in kashmir have not been included in the package on the recently passed order of All India Council for Technical Education in which concession for the wards of the Kashmiri Migrants and Kashmiri Hindu families (non migrants) living in Kashmir Valley was sanctioned by Ministry of Education Govt of India in consultation with ministry of Home Affairs, The Sikhs of Kashmir were very hopeful that their long pending demand of Minority status will be granted to them but Govt. of India miserably failed to implement it seems they are hell-bent on snatching some of the benefits from this community as already has been done in case of
Punjabi as official language of J&K Mr Singh added. Mr Raina has also stressed out of the Job quota given to migrant pundits and hindus (non migrants), 50% should be reserved for Sikhs of Kashmir who have suffered a lot due to internal displacement.
In very strong words Sardar Baldev Singh has warned the Government that if our demands are not considered in letter and spirit we will be left with no option but to come out on roads and for any untoward incident Government of India and Administration of UT of J&K will be responsible.(KNS)
