State Taxes  Department Anantnag Organises one day Training cum Awareness programme in Dak Bungalow 

Anantnag 06 March (KNS): One day training cum workshop on TDS Deduction under Jammu & Kashmir Goods & Service Tax Act 2017, conducted at Dak Bunglow Khanabal Anantnag. The program was organised by State Taxes Department Anantnag in collaboration with District Administration Anantnag. The program was organized to stress upon the importance of TDS deduction which form an important link in the course of Tax collection from the Government Contractors, since the contractor are one of the biggest contributors to the tax revenues.  The program was slated to be one of the many more to come to bring awareness among the stakeholders. 


 The program was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Gulzar Ahmad (K.A.S), Deputy Commissioner Enforcement South Mr. Syed Shahnawaz (K.A.S),  Dr.  Mohammad Hussain State Taxes Officer Anantnag-1st, Mr. Abdul Hamid Ganai State Taxes Officer Anantnag-II,  Mr. Sajad Ahmad Sofi State Taxes Officer Circle Anantnag-III & all the DDOs of District Anantnag.


 In the presentation on TDS under J&K GST Act 2017, Dr. Mohd Hussain discussed in detail the role and responsibilities of the DDOs vis-a-vis the TDS collection. He impressed upon all the DDOs who are managing the payments to works contract and supplies that TDS Acts as a tax footprint for the government payments and tax collection. Consequently, the deduction of TDS and filling of returns in the form of GSTR-7 becomes more than important in larger scheme of tax collection. Talking to media persons present, Dr. Mohammad Hussain reiterated that district Anantnag has a vibrant business Community and culture including works contract and as such has the potential to emerge as a major tax contributing district on the taxation map of the state.

It was further assisted that such programs are intended to develop an ecosystem of tax compliance by raising the awareness among all stakeholders of taxation structures and system. The officers present where also impressed upon to reach out personally to the tax payers to comply with the provisions of the J&K GST Act 2017.


 The program ended with Question & Answer session in which the participants were apprised about the issues.(KNS)
