State Council of Educational Research and Training starts webinar series

Srinagar, October 3(KNS): The newly established State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), J&K today initiated a series of webinars for seeking gross root level suggestions based on challenges/opportunities from the concerned stakeholders for effective implementation of National Education Policy-2020 as per its mission & vision in respect of all the themes pertaining to School Education Department in J & K.
A statement issued to KNS reads, that the webinar series started today on on the theme “Early Childhood Care & Education: The Foundation of Learning.”
K. K Sharma, Advisor to Lt. Governor in the capacity of Chief Guest inaugurated the Webinar.

The logo of newly established SCERT was also unveiled depicting three keywords viz Explore, Excel & Enlighten [3Es] which envisages the aims & objectives of SCERT, J & K, it reads

Principal Secretary, School Education Department Asgar Hassan Samoon, Prof. Hrushikesh Senapatey, Director NCERT, New Delhi, Prof. Renu Nanda, Dean Faculty of Education, University of Jammu, Experts from Central Universities of Jammu and Kashmir.

"More than 200 participants including Director Academics, Joint Secretaries, Assistant Directors, Academic Officers from JKBOSE, SCERT faculty, DIET Principals alongwith their faculties attended the webinar," it said.

According to the statement issued to KNS, Advisor Sharma in his keynote address highlighted the need and importance of NEP with respect to UT of J&K. He impressed upon the participants that the purpose of NEP is to develop good human beings of rationale thought who possess compassion, empathy, courage, resilience, scientific temper and creative imagination.


Dr. Samoon in his message congratulated Director, SCERT and her team for this great initiative of seeking suggestions from the stakeholders depicting ground level challenges and opportunities for the implementation of NEP-2020, statement reads.


On this occasion, Prof. Hrushikesh Senapaty, Director NCERT, New Delhi highlighted that the NEP aims to address the growing developmental imperatives of the nation. Further, he emphasised that the policy proposes revision and revamping of all aspects of educational structure, governance to create a new system which is aligned with the aspirations of 21 century education, it said.


Earlier, Prof Veena Pandita, Director, SCERT JK while presenting welcome address to the Chief Guest and Other Dignitaries including Prof. Hrushikesh Senapaty, Director NCERT, New Delhi highlighted the need and importance of conducting such webinars in order to understand the National Education Policy and its implementation in UT of JK. She stressed upon the educationists, teachers and all stakeholders should highlight the gross root level challenges and opportunities in context of J & K for effective implementation of the policy. "The inaugural session was followed by two presentations by Jammu and Kashmir wings of SCERT on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). Dr. Rabia Naseem from Srinagar and Jaswinder Kour from Jammu supported by their teams extensively deliberated on the essence of early childhood care and education through power point presentation viz-a-viz J & K. Both the presentations discussed the challenges and bottlenecks in implementation of ECCE in J&K. The presentations were followed by open Question-Answer Session, in which participants posed their relevant queries which were satisfactorily responded by the experts," it said.


The presentations were followed by panel discussions on ECCE with reference to NEP-2020 in which Dr Mohd Sayid Bhat, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Education, Central University of Kashmir and Dr Ritu Bakshi, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Central University Jammu participated. The chairperson of the session, Prof. Renu Nanda summed up the day’s proceedings and laid emphasis on the implementation of NEP 2020 that contributes directly in transforming India into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by providing quality education to all. She emphasised that the goal can be achieved only by ensuring universal access to quality education across the country in a phased manner. At the end, a brief report on the proceedings of the day was presented by Shiekh Gulzar Ahmad, DIET Beerwah, Budgam and Vote of Thanks was presented by Deepak Sharma, SCERT, Jammu wing. The programme was anchored by Dr. Nazneen, SCERT, Kashmir wing. The technical support for the webinar was by provided by DIET, Srinagar. The feedback received during the programme will be compiled into a comprehensive report by SCERT which shall be submitted to the Government for the effective implementation of NEP-2020. The next webinar shall be held on 5th of October, 2020 (KNS)
