Sports Deptt felicitates Winners Of Yoga Day Video Competition

Srinagar July 03:(KNS) Under the dynamic leadership and able guidance of Advisor to Lieutenant Governor J&K Mr Farooq Khan and with the tireless efforts of Worthy Secretary to Youth Services and Sports Department, the Department of Youth Services & Sports have been very instrumental in tapping sports talent of the J&K youth in a positive manner”. This was stated by Dr Saleem ur Rehman, Director General of the Department of Youth Services & Sports while interacting with the winners of recently held Online Yoga Asnas Competition in his office chamber here. He further appreciated the role of field staff of the Department in making 6th International Yoga Day Celebrations a great success while following all the guidelines and precautions amid Covid 19.
After felicitating the two young Yoga Enthusiasts from District Baramullah, he said that our youth have enough potential to compete at National and International levels and no stone would be left unturned in channelizing their talent to the best possible levels.
The online Yoga Asanas Competition was organized by the Department of School Education Jammu & Kashmir. Irfan Ahmed Najar a class 9th student has begged 2nd while as Mehraj Ahmed a 7th grade student has got third position respectively in the unique Video Competition. Nasir Ahmed a Physical Education Teacher in the Department of Youth Services & Sports and a Yoga Coach and trainer of National repute has coached both the talented youngsters.
Principal Secretary To Government School Education Department Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon gave away one Tablet Phone to each of the winners and hoped that they would practice with the same enthusiasm to be among the top sports persons of the country one day.
Pertinently a video of 30 seconds depicting administration of different Yoga Asanas was submitted by each contestant throughout J&K for the competition and the best videos among all were chosen for different prizes & positions.(KNS)
