Special function to witness e-release of instalment under PM-KISSAN SAMMAN NIDHI SCHEME held at Agriculture Complex Lalmandi


Srinagar December 25:(KNS) A special function was organised by the Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department Kashmir to witness the e-release of December 2020 to March 2021 instalment under PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI SCHEME (PM- KISSAN) by Honble Prime Minister of India.
District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary (IAS) was the chief guest on the occasion besides a large number of farmers, senior officers and officials from agriculture and its allied sectors were also present.

District Development Commissioner in his speech highlighted the benefits of PM KISAN schemes which aims to provide income support to the eligible farmer families across the country with cultivable land, subject to certain exclusions. He said under this scheme, an amount of Rs.6000/- per month in three 4-monthly instalments of Rs.2000/- each directly into the bank account of the beneficiaries through DBT mode.

He appreciated the role of the Agriculture Department in reaching out to the farmers of Srinagar district where despite of fact the land holding of the agriculturists is less but they produce various traditional and high value agriculture crops with the help of interventions and support of the Department.

District Development Commissioner Srinagar said main focus of the officers of the Agriculture and allied departments should be on educating unemployed youth of valley regarding various benefits of central sponsored schemes so that they get benefited to earn their livelihood with dignity.

Deputy Director Agriculture Central Dr. Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah welcomed the farmers and reiterated that the Department is committed to serve the farming community with latest technological interventions and schemes.

On the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, Chief Horticulture Officer Srinagar and other sectoral officers of Agriculture and allied departments highlighted importance of different farmer friendly schemes launched by Govt. Of India for the upliftment of economic status of the farming community.

The participating farmers showed enthusiasm while listening to the speech made by Prime Minister of India.

Pertinent to mention here that the Department of Agriculture Kashmir has organized similar kind of functions throughout the valley at district, block, panchayat levels.(KNS)
