Enforcing restrictions to avoid unnecessary public interactions: SSP Srinagar

Srinagar, April 14(KNS): The employees of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) again today staged a sit-in protest demonstration against the security forces highhandedness.
Reports said employees staged a sit-in protest demonstration yesterday against security forces. They accused security forces of beating the SMC workers and not allowing them to carry sanitation in Srinagar city.
After the intervention of SMC Commissioner, the employees resumed the work, an official said.
The official added that scores of SMC employees today again staged sit-in protest and accused security forces of beating them.
“We demand punishment to the forces personnel who beat our men and our official cards should be treated as curfew passes. We are seeking the intervention of Governor,” the protesting employees told KNS.
SSP Srianagar Dr Haseeb Mughal told KNS that Police is enforcing restrictions so that unnecessary public interactions could be minimized as GoI has issued clear directions who should be allowed to move in and out of Red Zone areas. As far as allegations of SMC employee is concerned, we are looking into the matter and will see if there is any kind of lapse on the prescribed SoP for implementing the government orders with regard to COVID-19 and If found guilty in the incident, the department will take action as per law.
When KNS contacted SMC Commissioner Gazanafar Ali, he said that he informed the Divisional Commissioner about the matter, “Divisional Commissioner assured that every Safai Karamchari would be taken care of and would be issued passes.” (KNS)
