Srinagar, Oct 05 (KNS): While demanding immediate revocation of three-tier shift, several paramedics of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura on Monday protested against the hospital administration and said paramedics will move to court if order is not nullified immediately.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), several paramedics of SKIMS assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and staged a peaceful protest against the hospital authorities for executing “three-tier” work schedule in the hospital.
Protesting paramedics said no hospital across Jammu and Kashmir other than SKIMS Soura have made life of paramedics “disturbed” while imposing three-tier work schedule. They said earlier two-tier work schedule was smoothly functioning in the hospital and all departments were running without obstacles.
They alleged that hospital administration imposed three-tier shift “forcibly” upon us and made the life of paramedics “disturbed”. “Our domestic life has been badly suffered, families also disturbed as we are reaching homes late night”, protesting paramedics said.
“I’m 8 months pregnant but still I am leaving the hospital 08:30 pm while reaching home to 09:30 pm. The schedule has badly ruined by personal life and family members as well”, Jameela a protesting paramedic told KNS.
Another paramedic said that manifold issued have devastated us but authorities are paying no heed to our demands. “Covid-19 pandemic, winters, political & security disturbances and dearth of staff like manifold issues have devastated our life. Also non-availability of transport services during late hours have further added our problems”, she said.
They said despite repeated communications and representation to Director SKIMS A G Ahanger and MS SKIMS, the concern officials paid deaf ear to our pleas. They said if authorities doesn’t concentrate on our pleas, we have no alternative other than to move to court.
“If our demands are not heard and solved, we will move to court”, paramedics said.
When KNS tried to contact Commissioner Secretary Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Atal Duloo, he didn’t respond to repeated calls from this office. (KNS)
