There is an atmosphere of fear and gloom in Kashmir, and the government on its part isn’t doing anything to assuage the situation by ensuring dignity of life and safety and security of its people. The recent disengagement of SHGs by the government is a case in point. The local youth are seeing no light at the end of the tunnel. People associated with tourism, handicrafts, MSMEs are reeling under debts. The government on its part has failed to provide succor to the affected people,” she said.

Shameema Firdous rued the widespread unaccountability, administrative inertia and development deficit in Kashmir in particular the summer capital of J&K.
“The response of the administration to the development needs of the people of Kashmir, in particular the Srinagar city has been very poor. All the measure projects in the Srinagar city have been put into a cold storage and no new significant project was taken into hand by the administration. The work on various projects is awaiting execution. The much touted development agenda of the government is no where perceptible on the ground, the roads, alleys and major arterial in Srinagar are in shambles crying government apathy,” she said.
