Srinagar, Oct 12 (KNS): Refuting the allegations leveled by Police that few of its students and alumni were found involved in anti-national activities, Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom on Monday said that those had taken up arms, according to police, are currently not part of the seminary.
While speaking with KNS, Chairman Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom Mohammad Yousuf Mantoo termed the allegation leveled by Jammu and Kashmir Police “baseless” and said those who had joined militants, according to police, are not part of the seminary.
“Those who had taken up arms and those teachers who according to media reports booked under PSA are not part of the school”, Mantoo said.
He contested the charges leveled by Police and said the school is imparting moral and contemporary education who so far have given several officers to the society.
“Besides contemporary, school is imparting moral education. If anyone had joined militants groups after leaving this seminary, what is our fault there?”, he said and added, there is no role of school in the activities of a person after leaving the institution.
He maintained that JSU has been never a part of “anti-national” activities but playing its role for building the society on moral grounds.
When asked about the involvement of one of its students Sajad Ahmad in alleged militant activities, he clarified that the said students had left the institution years ago.
“Sajad had left the school years ago. He was doing a mechanical work at home. What he did after leaving the school, how can we be held responsible for that?”, he said. (KNS)
