Several areas of Pattan without electricity; villagers protested, appealed officials to intervene

Pattan, Jan 07 (KNS): The inhabitants of north Kashmir's Khore Pattan and adjoining villages held a protest demonstration on Thursday against PDD for frequent unscheduled power cuts.

According to "Kashmir News Service" (KNS) correspondent, residents of several villaged of Pattan including Khore, Nowlori, Khasipora, Kongamdara, Hagerpora protested against Power Development Department (PDD) and blocked Pattan - Magam link road near Khore Sherebad, disrupted the traffic movement for hours.

"We are reeling under darkness as PDD department is playing hide and seek with us from months", protestors told KNS and alleged that the JE posted in the area is deliberately pushing villages into darkness.

"We receive the electricity for minute wise and we face immense hardships in this tough time. Though we approached concern department multiple times but all in vain", Gowhar Majeed a local told KNS.

SDM Pattan while taking to KNS assured that the issue will be resolved soon. He appealed people to cooperate civilizedly while using electricity.

Protestors appealed Deputy Commissioner Baramulla GN Ittoo to kindly intervene into the matter and ensure trouble free power supply in the respective areas. (KNS)
