Srinagar, Mar 23 (KNS): Many days after the authorities issued an order regarding phased-wise reopening of the schools as per the covid-19 safety protocols, some of the schools are yet to open the primary department upto class 5.

For the students to be able to attend the physical classes in schools, apart from giving No Objetion Certificates,  parents were asked to get their wards medically checked-up by a  physician and get a written fitness certificate from him, only then he or she  will be allowed to join physical classes in the school.

"Can't believe it, my child was not allowed to sit in the class because she was not having a fitness certificate along with her, and after my assurance for getting the same the next day, she was allowed to sit in the class" says a parent of a reputed school from Srinagar on the condition of anonymity.
Another parent, while terming this order unfortunate, says, " parents have to rush to the physicians in hospitals or in their clinics with their children to get them checked up and plead before the physicians for issuing fitness certificates, and there is every apprehension that the children will get infected because we have to take our wards along to the hospitals or to clinics for getting fitness certificates for them.

When contacted the Director School Education Kashmir, Muhammad Younis Malik said, " There is no such order or SOP's regarding mandatory physical check up for a child or a written fitness certificate necessary for a student to be allowed to join physical classes, and assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned school authorities and if need arises, necessary instructions in this regard will be issued by the Department to roll this back."
