Says maintaining hygienic environment essential component of quarantine centres


Samba, May 22 (KNS): Commissioner Secretary Forest, Ecology and Environment, Sarita Chauhan today visited several quarantine centres of Samba while reviewing functioning and facilities at these centers.
Chauhan, who is also Nodal Officer to monitor the quarantine centres established in J&K, during her visit was informed by Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rohit Khajuria that 15 quarantine centres have been identified and established in the district at various schools, resorts, ashrams with a total capacity of 3000 persons.
DC also informed that Radha Sawami Ashram quarantine centre has also been working as a transit camp where daily 2500-3000 persons are being received, segregated, screened, sampled, provided with food, water, shelter and later dispatched to their home districts.
Currently 2885 persons are being kept at quarantine centres and district administration has deputed district officers, officials and other field staff in these centres to provide hassle free facilities to all the inmates.
During the inspection, Commissioner Secretary toured several quarantine centres and urged upon the administration that social distancing must be maintained at these centers.
She said that maintaining proper cleanliness and hygienic environment is essential component of every quarantine centre and emphasized that women, expecting mothers and children should be provided with separate space in the quarantine centres. (KNS)
