Srinagar August 14: (KNS) To acquaint the saffron growers/ sellers with the mechanism/ protocol to be adopted for post harvest management of saffron and its e- auctioning under Kashmir saffron brand. The department of Agriculture Kashmir organised a six days awareness training program at India International Kashmir Saffron Trading Centre Dusso Pampore.
During the Concluding Ceremony Director said that these types of awareness programs will be a solution to all the grievances regarding marketing of Saffron . Director Said the economy of saffron growers will get boost as saffron will be sold, graded and exported to various countries from this platform only on a premium cost as Kashmir saffron is in great demand across the world because of its superior genetic traits which makes it special in the world. It will be sealed and certified at the center , which will be a trademark for Kashmiri saffron.” Director Agriculture reiterated that the officers of the department are committed with the responsibility for keeping the saffron growers positively motivated and meaningfully engaged, in order to make the awareness program a success so that the farmers are yielded much more profit.
While appreciating the efforts taken by IIKSTC , for organising such a knowledge based event for local saffron growers Director emphasized upon the organisers to conduct more such programs in future in order to specialize the growers with latest marketing trends. Joint Director Agriculture Extension who is also In charge of IIKSTC requested the potential Saffron growers/ sellers having basic computer knowledge to get themselves registered with the Administrator IIKSTC Dusso for the training, The training will be provided on first come first serve basis. Later Director distributed certificates among the participating saffron growers.(KNS)
