Srinagar October 20 (KNS): Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Tuesday has expressed dismay at the reports about violation of financial norms at SKIMS, Srinagar, asserting that such practices at this premier health institution are troublesome.

Kadfeen in a statement to KNS, said that disturbing reports about the violation of financial norms at SKIMS, Srinagar during the purchase of Hospital beds and related entities are coming to the fore and that it is agonising to find misappropriation infiltrating into Jammu and Kashmir’s health institutions now.

He added that on one hand, people are battling all odds in the backdrop of COVID- 19 and its dreadful spread and on the other hand the health institutions which were supposed to address the crises are taking undue advantage of the prevalent pandemic and under its garb are getting involved in violation of financial codes and norms with no compunction at all.

Kadfeen said that the hospital beds, as per the reports, which were ought to be purchased for the COVD 19 wards at SKIMS have been procured while throwing specifications to the wind and the purchase committee members who are mandated to put lid over any misappropriation are being silenced mysteriously.

He demanded that the government must not allow the health institutes of Jammu and Kashmir to turn into money minting machines while common masses continue to suffer for the want of better health care facilities.(KNS)
