Vijaypur, June 20 (KNS): Seeking personal intervention of Lt Governor Girish Chander Murmu, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader, and former minister Manjit Singh has appealed Government to reduce probation period of the Rehber-e-Khel in the Union Territory to two years from seven years to confirm their services.
In a press statement issued to KNS, a deputation of All J&K Rehber-e-Khel Teachers Forum called on former minister Manjit Singh and appraised about their sufferings.
The deputation has appraised that their probation period has been fixed seven years. During first two years, the Government gives them Rs 3000 and next five years, they get Rs 4000 for next four years.
“They are regularized after completing seven years long probation period and it is injustice with the highly educated youth engaged by the Government on very less wages,” said senior leader, JKAP, Manjit Singh after meeting the deputation.
He said that the Government must implement minimum wage act in Jammu and Kashmir, besides redressing issues of the appointees under Rehber-e-Khel in the Union Territory.
“Their probation period should be reduced from seven years to two years treating them equally with other appointees in different Government departments,” he said.
The Former Minister said that they should be brought under the ambit of SRO-202 where the probation period has been reduced to two years.
“The Government ignorance towards them has shuttered them. The LG Murmu must intervene personally so that their job is confirmed after two years of probation and their wages are enhanced under minimum wage act,” he appealed while expressing concern over the plight of the poor youth who have degrees of Bachelor of Physical Education and Master of Physical Education.
He said that “They are employed, still dependent upon their families for financial support because they are not being paid on the basis of work, they do. They have to travel and bear expenses from their family members.”
The former minister said that “These it is injustice with these highly qualified Rehber-e-Khel who are getting Rs 100 per day. They cover long distance to reach their place of postings and do their job and return for just Rs 100. The Government must seriously review the policy and enhance their wages to honorable level.” (KNS)
