Srinagar, Apr 20 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganaie on Monday expressed glad over recoveries of Covid-19 positive cases and termed the development a “good omen” for people of J&K. He said the district administration has lodged 150 FIR’s u/s 188 and took many violators to police lockups just to realize them the mistakes they committed.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), DC Budgam said we are feeling glad in expressing that Covid-19 positive cases have started to recuperate gradually. “District Budgam has reported 13 positive cases of Covid-19 so far among which 7 recovered after following proper medical protocol which is a good omen for people of J&K”, he said.

He said, those tested positive so far had contact history of earlier confirmed positive cases. “We received positive cases from Chari-Shareef, Soibugh, Rathsuna and other areas who had contact history of previous positive cases”, DC said. However he maintained the situation in the district is under control and people shouldn’t go panic.

He added that district administration is sending 60 to 70 samples per day to concerned laboratory for testing and assured the recovery rate of the district is at par from rest of the country. “The rate of recovery in district Budgam is over 50 percent which is at par from other states and districts of the country”, he said.

When asked about the restrictions and its execution on ground, DC Budgam said, “We imposed restriction in the district on March 14 and used every effort to contain spread of deadly Covid-19 pandemic. In the meantime we took strict action against violators and lodged 150 FIR’s under sec 188 to realize people that administration is not in slumber. Also we took violators to police stations so that they realize they have committed mistake”, DC said.

He added people in the district are cooperating maturely with the administration and are taking precautions like wearing face masks, staying indoors, washing hands regularly, etc. and appealed people further to act upon advisories issued by administration for their wellbeing in letter and spirit and don’t let the virus to spread.

DC further said that so far situation is under control and if numbers will spike, God forbid, administration can’t contain the situation then.

When asked about students who are stuck outside UT in wake of lockdown, DC said, “We have no exact figure how many students of the district are pursuing education outside UT but maintained those who have completed their quarantine outside UT will be kept into home quarantine only after reaching Valley”.

He appealed people to offer all time prayers inside homes during Ramadhan and hoped the sacred month will help us to come out of this pandemic. (KNS)
