Says, “No remunerations paid from months despite risking life"

Srinagar, Oct 05(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has taken a dig on the government for having not paid any remuneration to the re-engaged, (retired) medicos in the cirisis of Covid-19 till date despite these people having being rendering their services untiringly for the cause they were re-engaged for.
In a statement issued to KNS, JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani has expressed concern that while facing acute shortage of manpower amid COVID-19 crisis, the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department had decided to re-engage retired Medical Officers (MOs), consultants, senior consultants, paramedical and nursing staff on contractual basis in March this year
As many posts of paramedical and nursing staff had been lying vacant since past 2-3 years. Owing to crisis erupted by COVID-19, J&KHME had decided to re-engage retired paramedical and nursing staff of Government Medical College and Hospitals of Jammu and Srinagar,” an the records reveal.
“Wani said that govt had saidthen that these medicos and paramedics and nurses were being engaged for the period of one year in view of the extraordinary situation that had arisen due to the spread of COVID-19.
Proper sanction was accorded to the contractual appointment of those faculty members and paramedical and nursing staff in Government Medical Colleges, Srinagar and Jammu and doctors (Medical Officers, Consultants and Senior Consultants) and paramedical and nursing staff in the Health Services Department, Kashmir and Jammu, who have retired on superannuation from these Institutions/Departments with effect from March 31, 2018,” read the order issued by Financial Commissioner Health & Medical Education department, Atal Dullo. “
Wani said since then these people have been serving the humanity in compliance with the govt orders in the larger interst of the masses to safeguard their lives and putting their own lives on risk. But the irony of the time is that when the public outcry has settled down due to adaptation govt has forgoteen these warriors by virtue to not paying wages. Wani said not a singlepenny has been paid to these warriors who are retired and have families at their homes.
Wani said JKCSF appreciates the role of these warriours who worked as reinforement and urged the government to tackle and release their remunerations.
