Primary, middle school reopening, Laigaroo expresses concern

Srinagar, Mar 9:(KNS) Peoples Democratic Party youth sectarary Arif Laigaroo has expressed concern over reopening of primary and middle schools in valley amid surge in COVID-19 case.

“The decision to resume classwork after more than a year comes even as valley is experiencing a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths,” he said.

Laigaroo said what is the logic of opening schools when Jammu and Kashmir is recording more COVID-19 cases every day?

“Education is important but not at the cost of the lives of our children,” he said. “Parents of school students in Kashmir are aghast, many say that the decision is not only idiotic but will prove extremely dangerous, putting children’s lives at stake.”

“Are the officials okay with making our children soft targets? It seems some they want to score some points for their own benefits,” he said.

The PDP leader has asked the administration to have keen look into the matter.(KNS)
