Political parties should raise undivided voice for withdrawal of AFSPA


Srinagar, Sept 19 (KNS): Awami National Conference (ANC) on Saturday welcomed the statement of Army on Amshipora Shopian encounter and reiterated its call for withdrawal of AFSPA across J&K forthwith.
According to statement issued to KNS, Awami National Conference (ANC) welcomed the statement and the quick action taken by the army in confirming “Prima Facia evidence “ that its troops misused and violated powers under AFSPA that resulted in the cold blooded murder of three innocent laborers hailing from Rajouri in Amshipora Shopian on July 18 this year.
While appreciating the action taken by the army, ANC senior Vice-President Muzaffar Shah and General Secretary Mir Mohammad Shafi demanded that all legal formalities for a time bound speedy trail be conducted to punish the accused army personnel under section 302 of the IPC .
“This will set a precedent and act as a deterrent in future for all trigger happy personnel in the security forces and all other police agencies involved in anti militancy/Law and order operations in J&K”, ANC leaders said.
Party reiterated its earlier demand echoing the demand of the entire population of Kashmir, that it is high time AFSPA be withdrawn from J&K forthwith.
“ANC appeals to all Political Parties, in particular to the political parties of the Gupkar Deceleration to raise one voice in demanding the revocation of AFSPA which has till date resulted in humongous violation of human and legal rights of the people of Kashmir and loss of thousands of lives over three decades”, it said.
Party demanded immediate compensation to the families of the bereaved Amishpora victims. (KNS)
