JAMMU, DECEMBER 16(KNS): To strengthen the quality control of pesticides in the market, Government has decided to ensure display of quality certificates of the products by designated laboratories at retail outlets.
It was decided in a meeting called by Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmed Bhat Director Horticulture Kashmir to review the quality of pesticides being provided to the Orchardists and farmers in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by the Director Horticulture Jammu, Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Director Law and Enforcement Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Director Horticulture Jammu, Plant Protection Officer Jammu and Assistant Director Agriculture (Law Enforcement) Jammu.

Taking to KNS, Bhat said a threadbare discussion was held regarding the quality control measures and the decision of ensuring the display of quality certificates of the products by notified Laboratories at retail outlets was taken.
The meeting also discussed modalities to strengthen the quality control measures for the sale of fertilizers and pesticides in the market.

Bhat took exception to delay in filling of reports of samples for quality testing and directed the Plant Protection Officers to ensure timely procurement of the insecticides by the distributors so that testing of pesticides and results could be made available in time.

It was also decided to get the Laboratories at Horticulture Jammu and Horticulture Kashmir notified by the concerned authorities.
We are also augumenting the capacity of the existing Laboratories to strengthen the quality control measures, he told KNS.
