Srinagar, Apr 25 (KNS): Residents of Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday expressed strong resentment over irregular power supply in the area and appealed authorities to switch-off the winter curtailment schedule now.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), several residents of Karnah area alleged that Power Development Department (PDD) is playing step-motherly with local population who has been left in regular darkness from the onset of winter season. They said though the winter season has departed from Valley but unfortunately people of the area are still surviving without adequate power supply.
“We are getting power supply as per schedule chalked out by PDD for winters but there have been no change as winter as well as spring seasons have also finished. They added as the Holy month of Ramadhan has approached now, the area is still facing pesky power cuts which has disturbed the daily affairs of residents especially student community who needs adequate power supply for pursuing their education as per contemporary lines”, locals said.
When KNS contacted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) PDD Mohammad Ashraf, he said people are using electric gadgets all time in wake of lockdown which caused overload on supply lines. He appealed people to use electricity judiciously so that all feeders connected to the supply lines will get proper electric supply. (KNS)
