Administration should wake up from deep slumber: Mohammad Ashraf Mir

Seinagar, January 1:(KNS) Apni Party Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir on Friday expressed deep concern over an agonizing power and water supply shortage prevailing across Kashmir division.

 

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mir said the people living in the areas of Saraie Bala, Raj Bagh, Barbershah, Chinar Bagh and other places of Srinagar are facing severe water crisis in this harsh winter.

 

He added, “People in the main city are immensely suffering for the want of potable water for the last over a fortnight. Except for giving false assurances to the people, the PHE department seems to be a mute spectator,” Mir remarked.

 

Speaking on power predicament faced by the people across the Kashmir division, Apni Party provincial President observed that the grievances regarding heavy power cuts, non-repairing of damaged transformers and frequent changes in power cut schedules has tormented the people to the hilt.

 

“The unimpeded supply of water and power are the basic rights which every citizen is entitled to have. The Lt. Governor led administration must intervene and resolve these genuine grievances of the people on an urgent basis,” he added.

 

He said the unscheduled power cuts are unbearably excruciating for the people in Kashmir which is right now facing one of the coldest winters in decades. “The situation in rural areas is worse than the Srinagar city. The divisional administration must address these pressing matters and resolve them for the at the earliest,” he added.(KNS)
