People of Kashmir should not allow anybody to dent social fabric & Communal Harmony: Usman Majid

Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): Former Minister and Jammu Kashmir Apni Party Vice President Usman Majid on Monday strongly condemned the recent targeted and gruesome killings of non-local civilians in the Valley by the terrorists & said this is the saddest event that every humanitarian must mourn.

Majid expressed shock and anguish over the gruesome killings of non-local laborers by terrorists in different parts of Valley. He said that Islam doesn't permit killing of innocents.

Majid said that these incidents brought back the painful memories of 1990. He said that the recent targeted killings have terrorised the minority community & non-locals in the Valley and many are fleeing their homes again.

Apni Party VP Usman Majid said that the onus to protect minorities & non-locals in Kashmir valley is on Muslims. “No doubt the situation has been bad but it will improve. However, Muslim majority has to play a vital role to bring confidence in the non-locals so that they will stay in the Valley.

Majid while urging the Muslim community of Kashmir to ensure safety, security and protection of minorities & non-locals. He said that the Kashmiri’s don't want a repeat of the 90's and are making sure this time that the social fabric of the valley is not affected.

Majid asked the Kashmiri Muslims to stand up in condemning the recent targeted civilian killings of non-local laborers from various states of the country.

Apni Party leader said that targeting migrant laborers is a deliberate attempt by terrorists, under instructions from across the border, to paralyse Kashmir's economy & to create an atmosphere of fear and communal disharmony here by instilling fear psychosis in the minds of minorities and non-locals. 

We should not count that which religion the victims belongs to-- human beings are human beings. We cannot tolerate attacks on civilians. We need o put an end to this and whatever steps are required the government must take, Majid said. 

He urged the majority community of Kashmir to take initiatives to make the minorities feel safe in the region. (KNS)
