Srinagar, April 28 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the valley due to the flash floods, urging the LG governor administration to make up to the losses suffered by the people on priority basis.

Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Ex VC JK Cements, Er Nazir Ahmad Yatoo while expressing concern on the losses of human lives, visited the families of Rumaisa and Ruksana who were washed away in flash floods at Kutbal Thera area of Chadoora belt of Budgam district on Monday. Yatoo expressed condolences to the family of Ruksana Bano and Rumaisa Bano, who lost their life due to flash floods.

In a statement issued to KNS , senior party leader, Er Nazir Ahmad Yatoo expressed his grief over the damages caused due to flashfloods in various villages of Kutbal area and asked the district administration to set up a team to ascertain the damage done by flash floods.

"It was quite a sad event in which two minor sisters were washed away by a flash flood . the duo sisters were grazing cattle at that time. The flash flood caught them totally unawares and it was all over before they could do anything to save themselves, the tragedy has left the whole area in a pall of gloom, " Yatoo said.

"The span of losses is immense, people across Budgam have been worst effected by the frenzy of weather. The flash flood has destroyed settlements, orchards and farmlands, at many places people have lost all they had. I on behalf of my party take this opportunity to impress upon the LG governor administration to depute revenue teams to the affected areas of this (Budgam) area," he said.

"Damages must be ascertained, evaluated and people suffering losses must be compensated" Yatoo said in a statement issued here. (KNS)
