PDP condemns killing of Bhupinder Singh; Questions Government’s role in protecting lives of political activists

Srinagar, Sept 24 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday condemned the killing of BDC Chairman Bhupinder Singh and termed his murder as dastardly and inhumane.
According to statement issued to KNS, a condolence meeting was held at party headquarters in Srinagar wherein tributes were paid to Bhupinder Singh, BDC Chairman who was killed by unknown gunmen in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday night.
Recalling the great social services rendered by Bhupinder Singh, the meeting described him as a selfless man who worked hard to bring relief to the lives of common people in his area. The Party paid glowing tributes to the deceased and prayed for his eternal peace.
Condemning the killing of Singh, the meeting termed his murder as dastardly and inhuman. The meeting also questioned the role of security agencies and the government in securing the lives of thousands of public representatives.
The government has all along made false promises of securing the lives of thousands of such representatives but failed miserably time and again, the meeting observed.
While it is unable to give security to the existing Panchs & Sarpanchs, how is the government thinking of announcing elections to add more people to this long list of vulnerable, the party asked.
The government that has acted in a partisan manner even in the crucial issues of providing adequate security cover to political representatives, by favoring a select group of parties has many questions to answer on this count, the party said.
The meeting was presided over the party general secretary G N Lone Hanjura and attended by senior leaders like Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Abdul Hamid Kosheen, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Haji Pervez Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad Beigh, Arif Laigaroo, Md Shafi Kundangar, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Sheikh Nisar, Muhammad Uamr Dar, Ali Muhammad Bhat, Fayaz Ahmad Reshi and others.
