Panchayat member of Qaziabad Kupwara seek investigation into installation of street lights


Handwara, Sep 08 (KNS): Deputy Sarpanch Halqa Rawalpora (B) tehsil Qaziabad of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on tuesday appealed authorities to conduct an investigate into the street lights installed in the area and demanded elements involved in the scam should be taken to task.
Talking to KNS, Shabir Ahmad Naikoo, Deputy Sarpanch alleged that there is a huge scam in 14fc lights of about 5.60 lac. He said on account proposed scheme the street lights that were installed in the village of Gundchabutra are costing merely the sum of rupee 40 thousand approximately.
He said though the matter was taken up with civil and police administration, but no action was taken so far. “I took up the matter with BDO. I also lodged an FIR at PS Kralgund but no action has been taken so far”, Deputy Sarpanch said.
He alleged that the lights installed in the village are of inferior quality and said that no separate poles were erected for the purpose.
He warned if authorities fail to bring culprits into task, he will resign from the post of Deputy Sarpanch.
When KNS contacted BDO Qaziabad Iqbal Nabi, he said such proposals are being approved through Panchayats after proper observations but still if there is any such complaint he will look into. (KNS)
