Pampore encounter: Two LeT militants killed, 1 surrendered

Srinagar, November 06:(KNS) Two Laskhar-i Toiba militants were killed, while as another surrendered on Friday in an encounter in Meej area of Pampore in South Kashmir's Awantipora.

Reports reached to Kashmir News Service said that two LeT militants were killed, another surrendered before forces in Pampore encounter that broke out yesterday between militants and government forces.

An official said that joint team of Army's 50RR, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police jointly launched the Cardon and Search operation yesterday in the area following the inputs of presence of militants.

He said as the joint team of forces reached the suspected spot the hiding militants fired indiscriminately which was retaliated ensuing the gun battle, the officer further said they were offered surrender two of them refused and while as the third one accepted the surrender after hectic efforts, the officers added.

Meanwhile, a senior police official said that in past 11 months 9 militants have surrendered before forces during live encounter.

Meanwhile inspector general of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar talking to KNS said that two Pakistani militants have been killed in the encounter and another surrendered.

He also said that two Ak 47 Rifles and Two pistols were recovered from the encounter site.

On being is asked the identification of surrendered militant he said they are ascertaining the identity of militant and will be shared with media after proper investigation

Notably, Two civilians were injured , one of them critically who succumbed this morning in SMHS after militants attacked the search party of security forces in Meej area of Pampore.(KNS)
