Pahari, Gujjari cultural fest organized in Karnah

Karnah March 18: (KNS)   In an attempt to promote Pahari and Gujjari culture and traditions and to provide a platform to young local Artists of Tangdar, a Pahari and Gujjari cultural festival was organised at Army Goodwill School Hajinar in Karnah today with support from the Indian Army. The event was aimed at highlighting the pecullar and rich identity of both the population groups of Karnah. 

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of snow clad peaks of Shamshabari ranges the artists of various Pahari and Gujjari cultural club and schools performed folk songs and dance. The 'Shining Karnah' Music Band and Sadh Cultural Club filled the atmosphere with its mealodious  and energetic performances  treating the crowd with a mix of folk and rock songs. Local youths from Nachiyan village,students from Army Goodwill School Hajinar and Government Collage Kandi also participated in the event showcasing Pahari and Gujjari culture.


This event was a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent and promote their culture to the World. During the event Kahlid Shuja Badhana Sarpanch of Nachiyan, Peerzada Syed, a journalist and Zafar Hussain, Sarpanch of Hajinar were felicitated for their role in promoting the local culture and social welfare of people. Special prizes were awarded to local of various age group for best cultural attire.


  The event witnessed a huge crowd of around thousand plus locals attending the event in local folk dress showcase respective culture, of both the major population groups of Karnah.  The occasion was also used to give a massage against the use of drugs through a skit.
The locals were very happy and enthusiastic to celebrate cultural festival and opinionated that such cultural festivals should be organised regularly to promote the local culture and young artists as it enables the younger generations to remain attached to their age old rich cultural traditions. The pride in the indigenous culture should be felf in the all preset in the festival.(KNS)
