No Radiologist in Trauma Hospital Pattan, Patients Suffer


Srinagar, Sept 23 (KNS): Amid tall claims of augmenting valley’s healthcare sector, Trauma Hospital Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is facing acute shortage of Radiologist results huge suffering to patients.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, Trauma Hospital Pattan is facing shortage of a radiologist due to which patients of the concerned villages are suffering badly. As per locals, patients have no choice except to approach private healthcare centers for getting investigated. They added though locals on multiple times raised the issue but so far no positive response came from the Government.
The said hospital is functioning as a non-Covid19 facility in north Kashmir and is catering all emergency obstetrician cases of the district.
“There is no radiologist posted in the hospital though administration has installed high end USG machine for needy patients, which was donated by a local business tycoon from Singhpora Pattan few years back. However patients are continuously suffered due to improper and inadequate healthcare facilities”, locals told KNS.
“The hospital is catering bulk of non-Covid19 pregnancies on a routine basis so it was responsibility of the administration to arrange a reputed radiologist on priority basis as non-availability of this key position can prove disastrous for mother and baby”, locals added.
They appealed Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo to attach a lady Radiologist, currently posted at SDH Magam, in the hospital for larger benefit of patients.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla Dr GN Ittoo while talking to KNS assured that he will take up the matter with concerned health officials and ensure the posting of radiologist on priority basis. (KNS)
