Srinagar, Feb 16 (KNS): Democratic Liberation Party (DLP) chairman, Hashim Qureshi on Friday expressed anguish over the grabbing of a land in Shalimar in which a Chinar tree, popularly known as ‘Charri Boon’ is located.
According to the statement issued to KNS, Qureshi said that “Chinar tree is our asset and cutting of such trees can deteriorate ecological balance. The cutting of such trees can also spark the protests as well.”
Qureshi said an hotelier has illegally grabbed the land in Shalimar while constructing the hotel nearer to the tree and has also caused damage to ‘Charri Boon’.
