Banihal March 27: (KNS)  Envisioning the crucial role for National Conference in steering the state to peace, Honor and progress, National Conference leader and district president Ramban, Haji Sajjad Shaheen while addressing a rally held to welcome dozens of Congress workers including a DDC contested, Three elected Sarpanches, Eight Panches
besides dozens of prominent political workers in National Conference fold at Banihal today, has said that a realisation has dawned on the people that there is no alternative to National Conference and the party alone can represent the social, political and economic aspirations and multifarious problems effectively and single-mindedly
of the people of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

While welcoming the new entrants especially youth, into the party fold, Shaheen called upon them to become agents of change and said that the state is going through very difficult times where on one hand, people of the state are being pushed against the wall and on the other hand, a conspiracy is being hatched to vitiate communal harmony in the state, and it is the people who have an important and valuable role to play in addressing some of the most significant and interrelated challenges faced by the people. He said a decisive battle is needed to be fought against divisive forces, who have taken central stage by exploiting regional and religious sentiments to further their myopic and nefarious political agenda. "

Shaheen said National Conference (NC) is not a mere political party, but a movement with well-defined political agenda and Workers of NC are epitome of sacrifice and selfless service who have withstood all challenges and proven their loyalty towards people, party and its leadership," he said.
"Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah transferred 'a peoples' movement' to us in the shape of NC and we have to nurture it in the same form," he said.
The party's objective has never been power but dignity and development of the state and people, he said.
Shaheen exhorted the people to strengthen National Conference at grass *root* level and maintain peace and harmony, saying this will be a befitting no reply to those who want to divide the society on religious and regional lines.
