Srinagar, Sep 07 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Monday paid glowing tributes to Sher-e Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah on his 38th death anniversary, terming him one of the colossal of freedom struggle for restoration of their rights.
According to statement issued to KNS read, Party rank and file while paying glowing tributes to Sher- e-Kashmir said that he was one of the titans of freedom movement for the restoration of people’s democratic rights. Party leaders pledged to offer every sacrifice for upholding and preserving the rights of the people of J&K. Defending, upholding and preserving the unity of the people of J&K will be a befitting tribute to Sher-e-Kashmir, said the party leaders while paying tributes to Baba-e-Quom Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah on his 38th death anniversary.
The life and struggle of Sher-e-Kashmir was emblematic of people’s genuine aspirations. On his anniversary the best tribute to him would be to tread the trail which he has left behind for all of us to follow. Lauding his vision of discarding communal politics at a time when the sub-continent was swayed by the frenzy of communal politics, party leaders said his ideals have universal acceptance. He wished for a society where equal opportunities are available to all, irrespective of religion, region, caste, creed or color, the party leaders said.
Recalling the immense contribution of Sheikh Sahib, like the revolutionary Land Reforms Act, Single Line Administration, free education, adult franchise, party leaders said J&K had a special position in the country. However the leaders said the unilateral and unconstitutional measures which were undertaken by GOI on 5th of August last year have tried to alter that uniqueness. The NC has always been at the forefront of guarding the rights of people of J&K zealously and will continue to do with the active participation and support of our people, the leaders said.
The leaders said that after independence, the state rose to achieve new heights in terms of human development index and that the overall growth of the state on other vital development indices was also far ahead of other states in the country. The leaders said that the fleet could not have been achieved had not a leader of Sheikh Sahib’s stature been around. The party leaders asserted that Sher-e-Kashmir endeavored towards maintaining communal harmony at a time when entire subcontinent was swayed by communal frenzy cannot be made underrated by any stretch of imagination; it was in his efforts that Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi had said that he sees a ray of hope in Kashmir, the party leaders said.
Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah belonged to a tribe of leaders, who not just liberated the people from the shackles of bondage but also ensured evenhanded development of all sections of society post independence by investing heavily in gender neutral education, participatory grass roots level development, the leaders said.
Among those who paid glowing tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir include Party GS Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior leader AR Rather, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Choudhary Ramzaan, Sakina Itoo, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Mubarak Gul, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Nazir Gurezi, GA Shah, Mir Saifullah, Shammi Oberoi, Members of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone, and Hasnain Masoodi; women’s wing president Shameema Firdous, Dr Bashir Veeri, Ali Mohammad Dar, Showkat Mir, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Gh Mohiudin Mir, Peer Afaq, Javed Dar, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Altaf Kaloo, G R Naz, YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar, Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Sara Hayat Shah, Er. Sabiya Qadri; constituency In charges, block presidents, Women’s wing, YNC functionaries, Minority and legal cell functionaries, Party’s Parent body members and officers have also paid glowing tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.
Due to the prevailing COVID-19 induced crises, the congregational Fateh Khawani will not be held at Qaid Mazar Hazratbal. However party functionaries will individually offer Fateha at the final resting place of the late leader. Meantime commemorative functions will be held across Jammu and Kashmir at party’s district headquarters, where party functionaries will pay homage to the great leader for his immense contribution towards the social political emancipation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
