Srinagar May 07:(KNS)  The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Saturday expressed anguish over the losses incurred by people due to heavy Hailstorm in various pockets of South central and North Kashmir Districts and demanded adequate compensation to the affected on MSP rates.

While expressing concern over losses to standing crops, orchards and other standing crops in a number of villages of central and North Kashmir districts due to the heavy hailstorm, Party MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi said the damage caused by hailstorm is immense. They added that the hailstorm has dampened the hopes of people who were anticipating a good crop this year to make up for the losses of previous years but the rough weather condition has dashed the hopes of farmers and orchardists.

“The weather furry witnessed by hailstorms and gusty winds has destroyed standing paddy crops, Cherry and other stone fruits in the hamlets. Unfortunate weather vagary has defoliated and stripped crops of their precious produce as well, hence destroying the months of hard work of our farmers. In addition to it the hailstorm has significantly caused fatal trauma to people and cattle at various places.”
They asked the administration to reach out to the affected with adequate relief and compensation.

JKNC Zone Presidents Ali Muhammad Dar, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri, and Javed Dar have asked the administration to depute revenue team to the hailstorm affected areas so that that quantum of the losses incurred by people is assessed and compensated forthwith.(KNS)
