Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS) National Conference today had called an important meeting of the party leadership to discuss the recent reports of proxy candidates attributing it to the party in recently held DDC elections.

Sources informed KNS that, the meeting was called by the NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah to discuss the reports of proxy candidates in DDC elections attributed to NC than official candidates of PAGD.

A threadbare discussion was held about all the constituencies and a report was sought from District Presidents over the campaigning and support of PAGD candidates in their respective areas.

Those who attended the meeting include President Dr Farooq Abdullah, Vice President omar Abdullah, General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar,Member Parliment Mohd Akber Lone, Provincial President Nasir Aslam wani, provincial secretary Showkat Ahmad Mir, Zonal Presidents, and District Presidents.

Farooq Abdullah impressed upon all the leaders that the mandate of PAGD is above the party interests.

“We have to make united efforts and we are fighting a bigger battle that is above the party interests. Any decision taken by the PAGD in the past or future will be binding on all the rank and file of the party,” a senior NC leader who was part of the meeting quoted Farooq Abdullah as having said in the meeting.

The meeting was held at Dr Farooq Abdullah residence here in Gupkar.

It is pertinent to mention that The National Conference was recently accused by many political leaders including its own leader Basharat Bukhari, Peoples Conference General Secretary Imran Ansari and PDP MP Fayaz Ahmed Mir of fielding proxy candidates in the DDC elections. (KNS)
