Narco-militant module busted in Kupwara, 2 arrested: Police

Kupwara, June 27 (KNS): Kupwara Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a Narco Militant module worth Rs 65 Crore from two persons in north Kashmir’s frontier district and have recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

According to police statement issued to KNS said acting on credible information regarding a narco-militant module, a joint operation was executed by Army’s 17 Bihar and Kupwara Police which led to arrest of two individuals who identified as Manzoor Ahmed Lone son of Gh Mohd Lone of Lachipora Baramulla, age 38 yrs and Gh Mohd Lone son of Ab Rahim Lone of Bijhama, Lachipora Age, 40 yrs.

In this well-coordinated operation executed by the LoC unit and Kupwara police approximately 13.5 Kgs of narcotics estimated to be worth Rs.65 Crores and following arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Pistols, Pistol Magazines 04, Pistol rounds 55, Hand Grenades 04, Detonators 02.

The duo was working in close tandem with POK based militant handlers and was involved in drug trade and supply of weapons to militants operating in the valley.

In this regard case FIR no. 51 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act, 7/25 IA Act and 13, 18,39 UAPA stands registered at PS Kralpora, and investigation taken up the statement reads.
Meanwhile earlier a 100 crore narco militant module was also busted by Handwara police have seized 1.34 crore rupees from the possession of arrested persons (KNS)
