Months on, DH Ganderbal yet to resume normal functioning, patients suffer


Ganderbal 25 Nov (KNS):District hospital Ganderbal, which has a capacity of 200 beds, has been converted into a covid hospital since March this year after the global epidemic of corona virus and increase in the number of patients in Ganderbal district.Now Months on, DH Ganderbal is yet to resume normal functioning.

For the convenience of patients from all over the district, the Primary Health Center started functioning in Khajan so that the patients would not face any difficulties.

According to public sources, the primary health center in Khajjan was not providing better medical facilities due to which they had to turn to Srinagar or private hospitals.

Sources said that, after a public complaint, the district administration took up the matter with the governor's adviser but no consideration has been given yet.

Sources told KNS that, the district administration then started functioning at MMC Hospital Vail to provide better medical facilities to the patients.

" MMC Hospital Vail patients are not being provided the facilities that were being provided to them from District Hospital Ganderbal",they added.

Sources also told KNS that neither surgical facilities nor X-ray, USG, laboratory are available in MMC Hospital due to which the patients coming to the hospital are facing problems in getting treatment.

" the lady doctor is on duty at the hospital during the night but if a pregnant woman has to undergo surgery in an emergency, those facilities are not available here",they added.

Public circles said that work should be started in Sub-District Hospital Ganderbal so that patients do not face any more difficulties.

Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal Dr. Maharajuddin Sufi said that, the sub-district hospital has been converted into a covid hospital since March and only covid patients are admitted here for treatment.(KNS)
