Monga calls for issue based unity among political parties in J&K

Srinagar, Sept 10 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President and former MLC G N Monga today urged all the political parties in the region to unitedly fight for restoration of special status of J&K under Article 370.
In a statement issued to press from here he said the decision of BJP government to abrogate provisions of Article 370 last August was unconstitutional, illegal and unilateral.
in a statement issued to KNS reads,“The Centre’s move was violative of the Constitution as orders were passed in disregard of consent of people of J&K. A state with special status was downgraded and bifurcated into two union territories which is unprecedented in the history of the country,” Monga said.
He said after taking the unconstitutional, illegal and unilateral decision, the BJP government not only put the entire mainstream leadership under detention, but also imposed a strict security clampdown in Kashmir.
“But now time has come for political parties to get united and fight for restoration of the special status of J&K under Article 370 and statehood,” the Congress leader said.
Referring to Constitutional provisions, he said law made by Parliament for a state which is under President's rule is reversible if the elected government later finds it to be bad and it can be repealed by subsequent law. “The Constitutional order (abrogating provision of Article 370) was unconstitutional as it bypassed the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Monga added.
The JKPCC Vice President said that all the mainstream political parties in J&K faced the brunt of violence and militancy in the last three-decades.
“But even during the worst phase of the violence, they stood by the nation. It is irony that fingers are being raised at their conviction now by the BJP and the RSS. They (BJP-RSS) are peddling the falsehood that mainstream parties and leaders have lost all credibility and traction among the people which has not only been rejected by the people of J&K but by the entire country,” he said.(KNS)
