Miscreants Barricade Irrigation Canal in Aloosa Kupwara, Farmers Appeal Admin To Intervene

Kupwara, June 14, (KNS): Residents of Aloosa in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Sunday alleged that some miscreants have barricaded the irrigation canal which provides water to hundreds of kanals of agricultural land in the area. They appealed authorities to intervene into the matter and redress it at an earliest.
Several farmers told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that some miscreants have stopped the agricultural canal in the area and have left hundreds of the farmers to suffer as their land is without water since several days. They said that it is already late in sapling but the arrogance of few people will forces them to loss their livelihood.
The farmers said that if illegal encroachment on the said canal would not be removed immediately, the hundreds of kanals of agricultural land will look barren.
They appealed authorities to intervene into the matter and redress it at an earliest.
When KNS contacted Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, his phone was switched off and concerned Tehsildar did not pick repeated calls. (KNS)
