Mirwaiz led APHC expresses concern over arrests, HR violations

Srinagar, Oct 14 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday expressed concern over the arbitrary arrests of youth and unabated human rights violations across Jammu and Kashmir and said such measures are aimed at silencing the voice of people.
According to statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), APHC (M) condemned the slapping of PSA on three school teachers of an educational institute Siraj-ul-Uloom, Imam Saheb Shopian and surveillance on rest of the teachers of the institute. It also condemned the use of brute force and merciless beating up of youths in Barzulla and Rawalpora areas by the Army.
“It is a matter of serious concern that government forces have unleashed oppression upon people especially youth who are being arrested arbitrarily and whose basic human rights are being violated. Such measures are aimed at silencing the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and thereby violations of basic human rights will only increase resentment and retaliation”, APHC said.
It said that reason behind the political uncertainty, intimidation, instability and atmosphere of fear in J&K since 1947 is the lingering Kashmir issue. “Till this dispute is not peacefully resolved as per the principles of truth and justice and in accordance to the wishes and aspirations of the people concerned, there is no guarantee of improvement in situation in the region”, statement said.
APHC (M) demanded early release of conglomerate Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and all other political detunes including youth who were arrested before August 5, 2019 and afterwards. (KNS)
