Minor girl among two injured in cross LoC shelling in Uri


Baramulla, May 01 (KNS): Two minor girls were injured in cross-border skirmishes in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday after armies from both sides trade heavy exchange of fire.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the exchange of fire took place on Friday afternoon in volatile Hajipir sector of Uri after shells from other side hit forward posts and adjoining locations resulting injuries to two civilians identified as Shanaza Bano (12) daughter of Bashir Ahmad and Tahira Bano (20) wife of Liyaqat Ali who suffered injuries at Churanda village. A residential house also got damaged in village Churanda.
“Pakistan on Friday violated ceasefire agreement and started shelling at forward posts in Hajipir sector of Uri”, Army official said.
He said the soldiers manning the post retaliated vigorously.
As per local reports, the shelling continued intermittently for some time which created panic at Chrunda, Batgran, Hathlanga, Mothal, Sahoora, Silikote, Balkote, Nambla, Garkote areas. (KNS)
