Srinagar, Oct 02 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Friday said that militancy related incidents have witnessed huge decline in J&K while the overall law and order situation in UT has also considerably improved compared to past.
According to Kashmir News Service, while talking to reporters at Police Headquarters here, DGP said that there is a considerable improvement in overall law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir as youths have perceived the reality.
“The improvement in overall situation is because of the fact that youth of Kashmir have understood the consequences of violence. They knew their bright future is at stake under the shades of terror and violence. Now they are shining in civil services at both UT and national levels. They are also taking part in sports activities both at local, national and international levels”, DGP Dilbagh Singh told reporters.
He was speaking to media persons on the occasion of Gandhi Jyanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, celebrated every year on October 2.
To a query about the latest border skirmishes at LoC in Kupwara and Poonch areas, DGP said that Pakistan being a victim of violence itself is still promoting violence. “Our neighboring country Pakistan is victim of violence itself but unfortunately it still promotes violence”, he said and added we have lost three soldiers yesterday in cease fire violations, however our brave men are responding with befitting reply.
While replying to a query when would the bodies of slain trio from Rajouri be handed over to their families, the DGP Singh said that legal formalities are being followed and very soon bodies to be handed over to their legal heirs.
“The legal procedure is being followed and once it will over, bodies will be handed over to their families”, DGP said. (KNS)
