Traffic to ply from Srinagar to Jammu on Monday

Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS): Meteorological (MeT) department has forecasted light to moderate rain and snow during the next 24 hours in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

However Dry, overcast weather occurred in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Sunday.

“Weather to remain overcast with light to moderate rain in plains and snow over the higher reaches of Kashmir towards the Sunday afternoon and generally cloudy weather in Jammu”, an official of the MeT department said.

Srinagar had 5.8, Pahalgam 0.6 and Gulmarg minus 2.2 as the minimum temperature on the Celsius scale.

Leh town of Ladakh had minus 2.7, Kargil minus 4.3 while the minimum temperature recorded in Drass town was not available.

Jammu city had 13.6, Katra 13.4, Batote 7.8, Banihal 7.0 and Bhaderwah 6.5 as the minimum temperature.

Meanwhile Traffic Department has decided to allow Traffic from Srinagar to Jammu subject to fair weather and better road condition.

 "LMVs shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. However, *TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic," it said.

The cut off timing for LMVs from Zig (Qazigund) 0700 hrs to 1100 hrs.No Vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timing.

"HMVs stranded between Jawahar Tunnel and Qazigund shall be allowed towards Jammu," it said.

Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW . They may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of NHW, it said.

Traffic Police has advised people to undertake journey on NHW-44 only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units (KNS)
