Srinagar 10 February (KNS): Mission Director MIDH-J&K, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS) & Director
Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak along with Scientists of Agriculture University,
Jammu today inspected Centre of Excellence, Udheywalla, Jammu and reviewed
the progress of ongoing works and status of the physical achievements made
thereof.

 Under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), the
prestigious CoE at Udheywalla, Jammu is being established at an estimated cost
of Rs 784.04 lacs over an area of 200 Kanals which will serve as latest advance
demonstration and training centers as well as have facilities for production of high
quality fruit plants and serve as demonstration centre for micro irrigation, hightech greenhouse technology, Tissue culture labs, bio-control labs and shall also
have weather forecasting station.

 The team was briefed in detail about the constructed infrastructure and the
plantation done till date. The executing agency has cultivated Citrus & Guava,
lemon plants over an area of 130 kanals and 2 lac plants are being prepared in High
Tech Green- houses there, thus a germ plasm bank too created.

 Mission Director, MIDH J&K instructed the executing agency to expedite
the pace of work and do on priority completion of all pending works. This project
provides a variety of facilities to the farming community in future & function as
farm school. He also emphasized not to compromise on the quality of work and
stressed that all the work should be as per approved plan. 

 In addition, Mission Director, MIDH J&K on his two day Official tour
convened a State Level Executive Committee Meeting (SLEC), in which four (04)
projects of Controlled Atmosphere Storage and one (1) Walnut Food processing
project were approved for providing back ended credit linked support.

 Besides Deputy Director, Horticulture Jammu & Assistant Director
Horticulture Kashmir, HDO Jammu and other field functionaries also accompanied
the Mission Director, MIDH, J&K.  (KNS)
