MC Sopore launches sanitation drive in town, appeals people to stick on lockdown guidelines

Sopore, July 19 (KNS): A full-fledged sanitation drive was carried out by Municipal Committee Sopore on Sunday in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), several areas and establishments were covered during fumigation drive which was hailed by locals. The drive which was carried out in entire Sopore town engulfed all shopping malls, Mosques, government establishments and adjoining colonies.
At the occasion, fumigation teams led by senior officials asked people to adhere strictly upon Covid-19 lockdown guidelines so that the pandemic could be overpowered. They also appealed people to step outside from indoors only in case of exigency, otherwise the more people stay inside, the more pandemic will be challenged.
The town witnessed complete lockdown announced by authorities earlier. However officials from district administration and Municipal Committee were on toes to monitor the situation closely. All shops and commercial centers remain shut and majority of people stayed indoors. Also traffic was off the roads.
On Saturday Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla Dr G N Itoo visited the town and took stock of the lockdown situation. During visit, he directed civil and police officials to act tough against lockdown violators and ensure hassle free movement of emergency services. (KNS)
